How do GLP-1 medications work?

GLP-1 medications, or glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, work by mimicking a natural hormone called GLP-1 in your body.

Below gives a simple explanation of the processes.

Normal Digestion Process:

  • When you eat, your body releases a hormone called Leptin.
  • Leptin is the satiety hormone that tells your brain that you have started eating and helps to signal when you are full, decreasing the chance to over eat or to continue eating when you are full
  • GLP-1 helps control blood sugar levels by signaling the pancreas to release insulin (a hormone that lowers blood sugar).

GLP-1 Medications:

  • GLP-1 medications are like helpers that imitate the actions of the natural GLP-1 hormone.
  • They are usually taken as simple injections once a week that go just under the skin that most patients cannot even feel

How They Help:

  • These medications increase the amount of insulin released by the pancreas when you eat, which helps lower blood sugar levels.
  • They also slow down the emptying of the stomach, making you feel full for a longer time. These are a few of the ways that this medication helps with weight management.

Benefits:

  • By mimicking GLP-1, these medications help regulate blood sugar levels and
reduce the risk of high blood sugar.
  • They may also contribute to weight loss, making them beneficial for people that need a small amount of help to achieve and maintain their desired weight.

In simple terms, GLP-1 medications act like helpful messengers in your body, making sure that your pancreas releases enough insulin to keep your blood sugar levels in check, increase Leptin production to retrain your brain to eat less, and they even help you feel full longer, which can be good for managing your weight.

Pricing Schedule

The GLP-1 medication is taken on a weekly basis with an injection. For the first month we offer this program for $195 after that the following schedule of payments is followed.

There is a weekly increase because the dosage is increased on a weekly basis.

Pricing for Tirzepatide (Munjaro) weekly Injections

First Month $195
Consecutive Months Only $295

Why Munjaro over Semaglutide?

These two medications are from the same class.  Munjaro is a second generation medicine with a few improvements over Semaglutide.  The largest benefit is that you typically need to increase the Semaglutide dose every month for 6 months to achieve the maximum weight loss with increased cost every month.  With Munjaro in only the second month you are at the maximum weight loss dose.  Keeping cost low and staying on a much lower dose of medicine long term are both huge benefits.
